Donna Jean Ratcliff

Donna Jean Ratcliff, 90 of Shawsville, went to her heavenly home on July 7, 2023. Born in Amigo, WV to the late Charlie and Maude Wells. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Guy Moody Ratcliff who was the love of her life; nieces, Crystal Wilkenson, Patty East McDaniel; grandson, Zachary Downs; sisters, Janabee Carper, Patricia Woolwine; and brother, Buddy Wells.
Donna is survived by her sister, Jo Ellen McDaniel, who was there until the end; brother, James ‘Piggy’ Wells; niece that she loved dearly, Cindy Crockett; other nieces, Teresa Kimbro, Debbie Sanson, Brianna Sanson, Melissa Dooley; nephews, Shannon McDaniel who was also there for her until the end, Billy Wells, David Wells, Charles Carper, Michael Wells, Nathan Sanson, Tim Woolwine, and Chuck Woolwine; as well as great-grandchildren, Dakota Downs, Mariah Downs, Karleigh Downs, and Josey Downs.
Born in Amigo, WV, Donna graduated Stoco High School in Coal City, WV. Moving to Ironto, VA in the 50s to take care of her parents and grandparents. Her first job was at Green Hill Meat Plant where she worked for 10 years. After that she went into nursing so that she could take care of other people. She worked at Richfield and Heritage Hall. Donna was then called to Moog to work where she retired after 10 years of service. After retiring, she traveled to many places with relatives and friends. She has been a Christian from a young age. She sang in church with her husband, sisters, and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2023, from 2-3 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 3 p.m. in the Chapel, with Rev. John Collins and Patrick Underwood officiating. Graveside service will be private in Reecedale Cemetery.
