Myers, Doris Marion Cook, 66, of Blacksburg, fought a long battle with Alzheimer and Parkinson and entered into eternal life on February 29, 2008 at the Kroontje Health Care Center, Warm Hearth.
As an avid cat lover, Doris never met a stray that she did not show love to. She was born Sept. 25, 1941 to Walter Sr. and Sara E. Cook in Corning, NY. She graduated from Painted Post High School and attended BOCES nursing program, Steuben County. Before moving to Virginia she worked as an CNA at Three Rivers, Erwin, NY.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce (Janice) Myers, of Christiansburg, VA and Jeffery (Donna) Myers of Forest, VA; two grandsons, Justin and Cameron Myers of Forest, VA; sisters, Grace Campbell, of Stuarts Draft, VA, Ruth Smith, of Penfield, NY, and Esther Stanton, of Painted Post, NY; former husband, Phil Myers, of Big Flats, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours, however a memorial service will be held with Major John Blevins conducting at 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, 2008 in the Salvation Army Chapel, 1125 Roanoke St., Christiansburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial donations be made to the NRV Salvation Army, or SPCA of Montgomery County Feline Care or the Warm Hearth foundation employee fund, 1000 Litton Lane, Blacksburg, VA 24060.
