JONES, DOROTHY GEARHEART, age 83, of Christiansburg went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 16, 2006.
She was a faithful member of the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church where she lovingly served for more than 50 years in the church nursery. She retired from Montgomery County Schools where she had worked since 1961 in the school cafeterias at Christiansburg High School, Christiansburg Middle School and Christiansburg Primary School, continuing to work until the spring of 2005.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. (Jack) Jones; daughter, Diane Gail Jones; sisters, Elizabeth Barnett, Lois Martin, Louise Wells, Helen Jones; brothers, Bill Gearheart and Ray (Junior) Gearheart.
She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Robert T. Jones, Jr. of Christiansburg; daughter and son-in-law, Jacquline (Jackie) & Doug W. Marrs of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Dorothy (Dottie) Martin Frazier and husband, Stephen D. Frazier; step grandchildren, Melinda Marrs Boothe and husband, Terry Boothe; Christine Marrs Martin and husband, Tim Martin; great grandchildren, Donny Charles and Spencer Frazier; step great grandchildren, Kandice Frazier, Emily & Zachary Boothe; Elizabeth & Stephanie Martin; special nieces, Susan Carr, Gloria Anderson, Bonnie Price; and special nephew, Billy Barnett. Her passing has left a void in the lives of many special family and friends too numerous to mention.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 18th at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 19 at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church with Dr. Don Makin officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery. The Jones Family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
