Dorothy Lester

March 26, 1931 — December 4, 2013

Dorothy Elizabeth Trump Lester of Salem passed away on December 4, 2013. On that day, a strong, brave, and self-assured lady stepped into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to become a steadfast Spirit servant in God’s kingdom. She died peacefully at Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem surrounded by her family. She was a faithful witness and servant for God, living a life that showed the path toward the promised Kingdom of Heaven. Dottie was staunchly faithful in living a life of giving, sharing, and influencing those who crossed her path by witnessing her Christian faith. A loving and devoted Sister, Aunt, and Friend, she faithfully served her families – whether at home, at church, or at work. In December 2012, at 81, she retired from General Electric in Salem after serving for 56 years as a dedicated, well-respected employee. She served for over 40 years as an Avon representative and over 25 years as a Leggett sales associate.

She was predeceased by her parents, Charlie Trump and Delphia Trump Creasy; and her brother, Lynwood Trump. Survivors include her sister, Mary Lee Wells of Lafayette.

Seven nieces and nephews survive Dottie. They are Cindy Wells Disney, A. Dale Wells King, Darrell Wells, Tim Wells, Revonda Trump Walters, Donald Trump, and Mark Trump. Eleven great-nieces and nephews survive and multiple great-great-nieces and nephews. Dottie loved her babies and lit up when they came to visit; she cared for her extended family as if she was their Mother. She also adored it when her “four-legged babies” came to visit and gently connected with their doggie spirits. Also, surviving are many special friends from GE, Leggett, and her Avon family, as well as her Seneca Baptist Church family who supported her through the years.

The family will receive friends and family at Horne Funeral Home, December 7, 2013, from 10 a.m. to noon, with the funeral service to immediately follow. Burial will be at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem after the service.

The family has designated that in lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to the Shawsville Lay Ministerial Association, P. O. Box 248, Shawsville, VA 24162.
