Dorothy Thompson Miller, 64, of Pilot, passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2014. She was born on April 11, 1950 to the late Dewey I. and Myrtle ‘Irene’ Thompson of Christiansburg.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, William ‘Billy’ Miller; daughter, Tammy Akers; son, Christopher Miller; grandsons, Toby Akers, Jr. (T.J.) and Riley Miller, all of Pilot. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Toby Akers; brothers, Dewey I. Thompson, Jr. and wife Ruby of NC, and John P. Thompson of Christiansburg; sisters, Doris Kirkner and husband David of Pilot, Donna Hamrick and husband Mike Catron of WV, Debra Abate and husband Richard, and Diane Duncan and husband Larry, all of Christiansburg; brother-in-law, Sonny Miller and wife Loretta of Floyd; sister-in-law, Carmel Miller of Christiansburg; special nephew, Darrell Sowers of Pilot; special friends, Justin Bittinger and Mike ‘Smiley’ Scott, both of Pilot; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and co-workers from Wade’s Supermarket and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department.
Dorothy had a special love of family and friends, and always greeted you with a smile. She enjoyed working to serve the community, loved cooking, and she truly loved spending time with her grandsons.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 10, 2014, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Bible Holiness Church, 611 South Franklin St., Christiansburg. The Memorial Service will follow at 5 p.m., with Rev. Dwayne Martin and Rev. Kenneth Kingrea officiating.
