Snider, Dorothy Ellen Salyers 75, of Christiansburg, VA, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2009.
She was born on June 6, 1934 in Russell County, VA. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all who came into her life. She devoted her life to her family and friends. She was a faithful Jehovah’s witness for 38 years and was known as a person who would brighten your day with an encouraging smile.
She was preceded in death by Roscoe Chapman Snider, David Chapman Snider; and her parents, Estle and mary Lula Salyers; one son-in-law, Joseph Allen Sutphin. She was the best grandmother anyone could ever have. She was the happiest woman ever born.
In her life, she is survived by one daughter, Juanita Ellen Sutphin; three grandsons, Christopher Lee Snider and Sarah McGraw, Donald Oliver Tawney and wife, Stacey, David Allen Keith Tawney; one sister; two brothers; 15 great grandchildren.
The Snider family will receive friends 12p.m.-2p.m. Monday, July 6, 2009, followed by a 2p.m. funeral service at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Bob Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Ross Cemetery in Newport, VA.
