PHILLIPS, Eather Cannoy, 88 of Christiansburg, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2005.
He was born on January 5, 1917 to the late J.S. & Tida Phillips, also preceding in death was his first wife; Sylvia M. Phillips, brothers; Esker, Cecil, Aster, Laddie and Allen and sisters Lidas Howell and Zella Coleman. He spent most of his life self-employed as both a dairy and beef farmer, and also operated a sawmill. He was most happy when he was riding on his farm and counting his cattle - "to make sure they are all here."
Eather is survived by his wife of 34 years; Marie M. Phillips, son; Gary Phillips of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, step-son and spouse; Wayne and Carolyn Sowers, of Christiansburg; step-daughters and spouses; Sandra and Ricky Keith, of Pilot; Carolyn and Wayne Covington of Quincy, FL, Beverly Chamberlain and Jeff Wimmer, of Christiansburg; sister; Agnes P. Graham, of Salem; grandchildren; Sylvia Phillips, Doug Phillips, Darrell and Pam Sowers, Candace and Doug Johnston, Stephanie and Larry Williams, Ashley Altizer, Aaron Altizer, Heather Keith, Chase Chamberlain, Brian Wimmer. Great grandchildren; Skyler Williams and Caleb Johnston. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home from 5 - 8 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2005. The funeral service will be Sunday, November 27, at 2 p.m. in The Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Board and Rev. Claude Dove officiating. Inretment will follow in Graysontown Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Skyline Manor, Floyd, VA, expressing to those on the C-Wing, for the loving care to Eather and this will never be forgotten. Also, to Dr. Robert Solomon and the nurses at New River Valley Medical Center for the kindness shown to our family during these last five days. "May God bless you all".
