Edna Wells Worrell

Edna Jean Wells Worrell, 80 of Elliston, Virginia was known and loved by many throughout the small communities of Elliston and Shawsville. This sweet lady left us on January 31, 2024. Edna was born on September 6, 1943. to the late George Edward Wells and Virgie Bell Cheatwood Wells. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Lee Worrell; brothers, Hursel Robert Wells, James Duvall Wells, Charles William Wells, Erskine Reginald Wells, and Henry David Wells; and sisters Nellie Pauline Wells Roberts, Minnie Marie Wells Caldwell, Dorothy Mae Wells Oliver, Mary Ellen Wells Crawford, and Eleanor Crystal Wells Young. Edna is survived by MANY friends, nieces and nephews, and even more great nieces and nephews.

Enda grew up with 5 brothers and 5 sisters. She grew up in a family that worked hard and loved even harder. At a young age Edna worked at the overall factory but found her real calling when she went to work at McVitty Nursing Home, what is now Richfield Retirement Home, where she became a nurse’s aide, and eventually a nurse. She worked at Richfield until she retired. She truly touched the lives of many. She was always there for family and friends. She was a very sweet and loving person who would help anyone in need. Edna left her mark on this community and this family and will be forever remembered.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, from 12-1 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 1 p.m. in the Chapel with Pastor Lanny Belcher officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery.
