GALLIMORE, EDSEL A., age 77, of Christiansburg passed away Monday, February 7, 2005 at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.
He served with honor as a field medic during the Korean War. Sgt. Gallimore was wounded in combat and awarded the Purple Heart. Although he had many jobs, he was a carpenter at the Radford Arsenal for many years and retired in 1989. He enjoyed mowing his grass, Elvis, and driving around in his Chevy pickup with Lance. He was a good man, wonderful friend?hard-working brother?beloved PawPaw?Daddy. He was the son of the late Payton and Maudie Phillips Gallimore.
He is survived by his children, Michael Avery Gallimore, Kevin Douglas Gallimore, Deborah Ann Gallimore and Patricia Lynn Gallimore; grandchildren, Lance Ryan Gallimore, Adam Douglas Gallimore, and Sarah Kaitlyn Gallimore; brothers and sister-in-law, Alfred Calvin Gallimore, Cappy Ray & Marivic Gallimore; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elvie & George Jones, Dorcas Kent, Ruby Gallimore, Joyce Pascoe, Julie & Donald Crewey, Olaf Gallimore, June & William Chrisman, Linda & Thomas Fudala and Janet & Paul Webb; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 11, 2005 at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Beaver Creek Cemetery, Floyd County with Military Honors by VFW Post 127.
