Edward Epperly 87, of Christiansburg, Va., went to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on July 2, 2019 surrounded by his family, after a life that was well lived.
He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of 66 years, Dollie Epperly; sons, Norman Epperly (Janet), Jerry Epperly (Angie); daughter, Sharon Flinchum (Wendell); grandchildren, Amy (Charlie), Jason (Melissa), Adam (Sheila), Haley (Caleb), and Renea; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Macy, and Aidan. Also surviving him are special niece, Nancy Robertson; along with many other wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonza and Myrtle Epperly; twin sister, Edna McFarland; sister, Dorothy Jones; and brother, Leonard Epperly.
Edward was a faithful member, deacon and trustee of the Christian Fellowship Tabernacle since 1962. He proudly served his Country in the US Army and the National Guard during the Korean War. Edward had a smile and a witty word for everyone he met which will be greatly missed.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Commonwealth Assisted Living in Christiansburg, including Anna, Breanna, Debbie, Leanne, Lula, and many others too numerous to name. A special thank you to Tiler Smith, who adopted our ‘Papa’ as his own. The family would also like to extend their thanks to Medi Home Health and Hospice for their care.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2019, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Earnest Fulcher and Adam Abate officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
