COLLINS, EDYTHE ELIZABETH KING, age 91, of Christiansburg, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2007 at her home.
She was the daughter of the late Samuel G. and Lura Edythe Akers King. She was a 1932 graduate of Christiansburg High School. She grew up as a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church east of Christiansburg and joined Christiansburg Presbyterian Church in 1940. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Women and served that organization in several capacities. She was a co-founder with her husband and neighbors of the Roanoke Road 4-H Club and served as a 4-H Club Leader for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy H. Collins, in 1996 after 56 years of marriage. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Elizabeth ?Libbie? Anderson, Kathryn C. Hollandsworth and husband, John; Susan C. Young and husband, Terry, all of Christiansburg; four grandchildren, Sidney Hollandsworth and husband, Michael MacNabb of Blacksburg; Forrest Hollandsworth of Christiansburg; Lane Hollandsworth of Timberville, VA; Sean Young of Christiansburg; one sister, Kathryn K. Rundle of Dana Point, CA; several nieces and nephews; and a special caregiver, Ethel ?Honey? Taylor of Fairlawn.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 19 at the Christiansburg Presbyterian Church with Dr. Donald Makin officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
