JEWELL, EDYTHE ALEXANDER, age 97, of Christiansburg fell asleep in Jesus, Wednesday, December 29th at the Pulaski Health Care Center.
She was born in White Sulphur Springs, WV to the late William Earest and Mineva Jane Alexander on August 8, 1907. She was a loving a faithful companion and mother as she worked in teaching, singing, women?s ministries, visitation and prayer. She was converted at the age of six and served the Lord for over 91 years.
Her husband of 70 years, Rev. James M. Jewell and son, Richard Dale Jewell, daughter-in-aw, Ruth Gallimore Jewell, son-in-law, Gordan Christenen preceded her. She is survived by sons, William Hall Jewell of Wilmington, DL and Rev. Dallas M. Jewell and wife, Juanita of Newbern Heights, Pulaski; daughter, Edythe Rhea Christensen, Leesburg, VA and daughter-in-law, Evelyn Jewell, Charlotte, NC; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and five great, great grandchildren; a brother, Oakley Alexander, Eagle Rock, VA; a sister, Nina McCone, Columbus, OH; She served with her husband in pastoring churches in Virginia, West Virginia and Florida.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 31 at the Christiansburg Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Pastor Richard Kingrea, Kenneth Kingrea, H. T Atkinson, Kenneth Fogus and Scott Jewell. Interment will follow in the Appalachian Pentecostal Holiness Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christiansburg Pentecostal Holiness Church, P. O. Box 578, Christiansburg, VA 24068.
