Elbert ‘Sherman’ Riggan, 88, of Christiansburg, transitioned into the next phase of his eternal life on June 21, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, George W. and Erma Lee Doss Riggan; and brother, Harry Wesley Riggan.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, June Adell Davis Riggan; two daughters, Vicki and spouse Jim Dangerfield of Riner, and Pamela Via of Christiansburg; two grandchildren, Kerri and husband Steve Parks of Fort Chiswell and Austin Dangerfield of Denver, CO; and two great-grandchildren, Eli and Zoey Parks.
Sherman retired from Hercules as a senior illustrator. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a very talented artist who enjoyed drawing pen and ink of natures and landscapes. He loved playing dobro with the Joy Makers at area nursing homes and hospitals.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. with the Service to be held in the Chapel. Graveside Service with full military honors will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
