Elizabeth Afton Asbury Hylton, 92 of Riner, Virginia, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice C. Hylton, on November 20, 2013. Maurice passed away at home at 90 years of age.
Both Elizabeth and Maurice were born in Southwest Virginia. They are survived by their children, Richard M. Hylton and Kenneth R. Hylton; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Both Elizabeth and Maurice had been employed by the Radford Army Ammunitions Plant where they first met. They owned and operated her family farm, Fairview Farm, in Riner, raising Angus cattle. In addition to raising cattle, they produced their own vegetables and occasionally, a litter of Border Collie puppies.
When not working on the farm, they enjoyed riding his Harley on Sunday afternoons, especially on the Blue Ridge Parkway and visiting extended family in Floyd County, Virginia.
Visitation for Elizabeth Hylton, will be at 1:00 pm ET at Horne Funeral Home, in Christiansburg, VA. A Funeral Service to celebrate both of their lives will be conducted at 2:00 pm ET. Interment will follow at 3:00
pm ET at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Army Military Rites for Maurice will be conducted at graveside.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association will be appreciated.
