In loving memory of Ella Ruth Woolwine Jones, 96, of Blacksburg, VA, who passed away on March 5, 2013. She was born on August 16, 1916, to the late George William (Willie) & Fannie Bane Woolwine. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Lee Jones; an infant daughter, Genevive; one brother, Sidney Woolwine; and five sisters, Lexi Odum, Pansy Linkous, Hazel Jones, Annie Woolwine, and Charlsie Woolwine.
Left to cherish her memory is Godchild, Natasha Lynn Shelor Early; special nephew & wife, Rex & Doris Shelor; 2 special nieces, Thelma Shelor, and Kathy Bennett, who took care of her the last years of her life. She is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
She was a member of the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church for 70 years, and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary for 50 years. The family would like to thank the staff at Kroontje Health Care Facility for all their love and care of “Miss Ruthie”. Also thank you to Dr. Lucian Robinson for years of serving her physical needs.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 8, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 2 p.m. at the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church, Blacksburg, with Rev. Jerry Sloss, Rev. Glennard Quesenberry, and Rev. Larry Christopher officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
