Elsie Smith

Smith, Elsie Sheppard, 87, of Fairlawn, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 30, 2010. She was the widow of Burrell A, Smith. She was the daughter of the late Harvey L. and Mattie Sheppard.

She was retired from New River Textiles.

She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Smith Potts of Fairlawn, VA; step-son, Otis A. Smith of Oklahoma; brothers, Donald M. Shephard and wife Violet, Raymond Sheppard and wife Claremont, and Randolph Sheppard and wife Elsie, all of Christiansburg, VA; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Sheppard and Clarabell Sheppard of Christiansburg; 3 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 9 step-great grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

The family would like to thank Carilion Hospice.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 2, 2010 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Horne Funeral Home with Pastor Wallace Yopp officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
