Caldwell, Elva Altizer “Toots”, of Riner, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the age of 90. Toots, as she was known by many, retired in 1982 as a custodial aide from Auburn High School.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Tazewell Caldwell, her daughter, Susan Caldwell Teany, and her son-in-law, George “Sonny” Teany. She is survived by her granddaughter, Laura Teany and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend its thanks to the staff of Human Touch, the Kroontje Center at Warm Hearth, and Good Samaritan Hospice for their kind care of Toots over the past few years.
In lieu of flowers, Toots wished that donations be made to the Susan C. Teany Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Radford High School or to the Riner Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 11, Riner, VA 24149.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2010. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
