Emmett Garland Thompson, 91, of Christiansburg passed away November 22, 2016.
He was a World War II Army Veteran and a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Radford. Emmett retired from the Radford Army Ammunition Plant after 36 years of service.
He was the youngest of 10 children and the 1st of the generation. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Leighton Thompson; daughter Bonnie Thompson Blackburn; son, Barry G. Thompson; grandchildren; Tammy Blackburn and Robert Schell, Tracey Zelbell and Mathew, Tanya Blackburn and Andrew, Barry Jason Thompson and Joshua Thompson; and special friend of Bonnie, Larry Akers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016. Interment will follow in Belmont Cemetery.
