Emory L. Booker, Jr.

Emory L. Booker, Jr., was an energetic father and grandad with a love for family and friends. He passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 while in physical therapy after completion of a successful surgery. Emory was born August 20,1944 in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Pearl (Richardson) Booker and Emory Booker Sr. He enjoyed spending time with family--taking his role as a grandfather with honor, in addition to cooking, fishing, and spending time at the beach.
Emory was a proud United States Army veteran serving tours in both Vietnam and Korea. He would often be seen wearing his Vietnam Veteran hat and was always excited to reflect on experiences with his fellow veteran comrades.
Emory’s passing follows his wife of nearly 25 years, Kim Marie Booker. He is survived by children and their spouses: Christine Redd, Lindsey Thompson, Candice Booker, Michael Thompson Jr., Shania Clinedinst, Josiah Clinedinst, Lacey Houston and Brandon Houston, Zachary Thompson (deceased), Leslie Richards and Travis Richards, Culley Thompson, and Cullice Thompson. Grandchildren: Kiara Redd, Daniel Redd, Neveah Booker (deceased), Cayden Garcia, Cullea Thompson, Jayden Richards, Naomi Booker, Keelynn Houston, Culyssa Bridges, Mason Richards, Veva Thompson, Savir Talley, Nadelle Dowdy, Odin Houston, Camilla Thompson, Elijah Talley, and Arya Clinedinst, in addition to siblings, nieces, and nephews. Emory’s funeral service will be held 4:00 PM Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the Horne Funeral Service and Crematory, located at 1300 N Franklin St, Christiansburg, VA 24073. Friends and acquaintances are welcome to attend the viewing at 3:00 PM.
