SUTPHIN, CORPORAL ERIC EVINE, 40, of Christiansburg, died in the line of duty Monday, August 21, 2006. Coporal Sutphin had over 13 years of law enforcement experience serving with Buchanan Police Department, Charlottesville City Police Department, Albermarle County Police Department, Fluvanna County Sheriffs Department, and his final years with Montgomery County Sheriffs Department. Corporal Sutphin also served seven years in the United States Army as a Military Police officer, from which he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. During his military and law enforcement careers, Corporal Sutphin received numerous awards and commendations, including The Commonwealth of Virginia?s Medal of Valor Award.
Corporal Sutphin was the son of the late Frank A. Sutphin. He is survived by his mother, Jeaneen L. Sutphin; his wife, Tamara Sutphin and his twin daughters, Rachel and Emily Sutphin all of Christiansburg. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, son and friend. May we never forget.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2006 at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 24, 2006 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church with Dr. Don Makin officiating. The Committal Service will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
