Erna Lucille 'Ernie' Bishop Gibson

Erna Lucille (Ernie) Bishop Gibson, 93, of Christiansburg VA, formerly of Lynco, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, at home.

She was born May 13, 1925 at Sunhill WV. She was the daughter of the late Scott and Viola Belcher Bishop.

Erna was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years Clarence Lee (Buck) Gibson; two, brothers, Chester Bishop and Corbit Bishop; nine sisters Zora Linville, Ora Stewart, Nellie Stewart, Stella Lyall, Flora Bishop, Lora Cline, Corby Bishop, Holline Bishop and Sharlene Bishop.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Roger D. (Carol) Gibson of Maben WV, and Donald L. “Goldwater” (Toni) Gibson of Oceana WV; four daughters, Betty S. (JD) Parris of Glade Spring VA, Diana J. (Timothy) Donathan of Christiansburg VA, Debbie K. (Ray Thomas) Toler of Rincon GA, and Madonna L. (Rod) Burchett of Stanford KY; one sister, Nancy Lorine Lusk of Lynco WV; thirteen grandchildren, Sonja Seymore, Sherry Blondino, Tim Donathan, Amanda Donathan, Kimberly Adkins, Erica Frankum, Leslie Powell, Jeremy Toler, Donald Gibson, Michael Gibson, Brittany New, Elizabeth Burchett and Gabe Gibson; twenty-three great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at noon in the Open Door Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Johnston officiating. She will be laid to rest in Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny WV.
