Essie Parker

PARKER, ESSIE BELL, age 91, of Christiansburg, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2007. She was born on August 22, 1915 in Floyd County, VA. She was preceded in death by daughter, Vivian F. Parker; husband for more than sixty years, Paul W. Parker, and son, Curtis L. Parker.

Surviving are daughter-in-law, Bernice B. Parker of Christiansburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby G. and Lettie V. Parker of Christiansburg; Paul W. (Bill) and Sue N. Parker of Parkville, Missouri; and daughter and son-in-law, Barbara P. and George C. Hindle of Christiansburg. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Essie, known as Granny to numerous adults and children was a member of Cambria Baptist Church for 53 years and a faithful fan of the Washington Redskins. She also enjoyed cooking, quilting, and visiting with family and friends. She will be missed by all.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2007 at the Cambria Baptist Church with Rev. Richard H. Horne officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
