Esther E. Adkins from Christiansburg, VA., went to be with the Lord with her loving daughter by her side on Friday, September 28, 2018.

She was born on January 27, 1938, to the late Merle and Ruby Martin. She is preceded in death by son, Eugene Adkins, brothers; Bill Martin and Steve Martin and sister Joyce Barnett. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, David Adkins (Penny), daughter, Olivia “Darlene” Fizer (Mason), son, Daniel Adkins. Also cherishing memories are grandchildren, Greg Adkins, Heather Fizer, Doug Fizer, Kristian Adkins, Ashley Adkins, John Adkins, Chris Adkins, Pamela Lucas and Matt Lucas and many precious great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and brother Jim Martin (Deedee). She also had many loving church friends and extended family. She also made some lasting friendships while at Heritage Hall – Sue Reynolds and others.

Esther's passions included truck driving from coast to coast, gardening, keeping up with Virginia Tech sports, crocheting, listening to gospel music, feeding and adoring birds and spending time with family. Although she traveled while trucking, one of her most favorite places was The Smokey Mountains. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 02, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg, VA. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 02, 2018 at Horne with Pastors Jerry Shepherd and Ray McDaniel presiding. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Garden in Christiansburg, Va.
