Etta Linkous Carter, age 90, of Blacksburg, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2024 in Staunton, VA.
Survivors include her children Jacqueline Holt Pimentel and Suzetta Holt Armstrong, and son-in-law David Armstrong. She is also survived by her grandchildren Oakley and Afton Armstrong, Megan Pimentel and Madelena Pimentel Picard (husband Jimmy), her sister Pauline Linkous Jennelle, her beloved niece Jane Jennelle Arey, and 3 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Oakley Linkous, and her brother C. Theodore Linkous.
Etta was a graduate of Virginia Tech and a Registered Dietician. She was head of the Dietary Department at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Shenandoah Hospital. She consulted for Roanoke Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, and various nursing homes in the Roanoke area. While living in North Carolina she consulted for Central Carolina Hospital and authored a cookbook “Cooking with Etta”. She retired from the State of North Carolina as a facility consultant for the Department of Human Resources.
The family extends its love and appreciation to the caregivers of The Legacy at North Augusta in Staunton, VA and especially to the caring staff of Legacy Hospice in Fishersville, VA.
Arrangements have been made by Horne Funeral Service for a graveside service to be held on Friday, May 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg, VA.
