Eva Marie Howell Basham, 88, of Fletcher, NC, formerly of Christiansburg, VA, passed away peacefully from this life on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Park Ridge Health in Hendersonville, NC. She was born April 27, 1927 to the late Hartzel and Hattie Hylton Howell at Indian Valley in Floyd County, VA. A graduate of Willis High School, she served in various clerical positions for the Christiansburg Garment Company, the Radford Army Ammunition Plant, Sale Brothers Building Supply, Christiansburg Family Practice, and Radford Community Hospital. She was a member of the Christiansburg Church of the Brethren for many years, and more recently a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elizabethton, TN.
She is survived by her sons, Leslie Basham and his wife Kathleen of Knoxville, TN, Dwight Basham and his wife Pepper of Fletcher, NC; her brothers, Ramond Howell and his wife Bonnie of Grand Saline, TX, Galen Howell and his wife Shirley of Troutville, VA; seven grandchildren, Laura, Christine, Benjamin, Aaron, Lydia, Samuel, and Phoebe; and 17 nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 21, 2016, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will commence at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel, with Reverend Gary Marshall officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
