Evelyn Elizabeth Linkous Perfater, 93, of Merrimac, passed away peacefully at her home on the evening of July 30, 2015. She was born March 6, 1922, in Montgomery County to the late William C. and Ellen V. Linkous. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey A. Perfater; daughter-in-law, Betty Ritter Perfater; son-in-law, Lawrence Dale Womack; great-grandson, Andrew Bland; sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha P. Nester and Ernest L. Nester, Lillian L. Richardson and Harold C. Richardson, and Laura J. Linkous; brothers and sisters-in-law, William O. Linkous and Ida Mae Whitt Linkous, Garner C. Linkous and Evelyn C. Linkous, Howard E. Linkous and Edna L. Linkous, Ray H. Linkous, and Robert H. Linkous.
She is survived by her loving children, Diane Perfater Womack and Jessie Morris Perfater; grandchildren, Dana (John) Kirtner, Jessie M. Perfater Jr., Laura (Ron) Collins, Nelson (Jan) Perfater, Lawrence A. Womack, Shannon (John) Carter; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; devoted sister, Mary Kathleen Linkous; sister-in-law, Sylvia R. Linkous; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Elizabeth worked at Virginia Tech for many years. She along with her husband, enjoyed gardening and canning. Elizabeth was very successful in growing house plants and always had many beautiful plants in her home. She was a member of the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 2, 2015, from 5-7 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Rev. Richard Hall and Rev. Jerry Sloss officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
