Faye Elizabeth (Betty) Bunker Alderson died peacefully Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in Radford, VA, at the age of 88.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace (Wally) E. Alderson of Hopewell, VA; parents, Harden and Faye Bunker of Colonial Heights, VA; and sisters, Dorothy Lewis and Jean Chapman. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Faye and Brad Nicholson of Giles County, VA; grandson, Bret Nicholson, his wife Brook, and their daughter, Baileigh of Christiansburg, VA; grandson, Reid Nicholson, his wife April and their children, Abbey, Micah, and Caroline, also of Christiansburg; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Betty lived in Hopewell, VA for 63 years and enjoyed a long, successful career at Pioneer Federal Savings & Loan Association. She made many lifelong friends, both employees and customers, during her years at Pioneer Federal, and she also enjoyed her many friends at First Baptist Church in Hopewell. Betty treasured her wonderful neighbors and considered them an extension of her family. Betty’s energy, loyalty, passion, and sense of humor and quick wit are missed by all of us who love her.
A brief Graveside Service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA, on Friday, May 20, 2016, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to memorialize Betty Alderson are encouraged to donate to a favorite charity, an animal rescue organization, or animal shelter. Betty never met a cat or dog she did not love.
