BURLINGAME, Floyd Edgar, 88 of Radford, died Monday, February 18, 2008 at Radford Health and Rehab. Center.
Well known in the community as “The Barber” he joined his father in 1946 and served as a barber for more than fifty eight years. The son to the late Fred and Emma Burlingame, he was preceded in death by his wife; Esther Burlingame on February 16, 1993.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law; Roy and Peggy Burlingame, The Villages, FL, daughter and son-in-law; Carolyn and Arnold A. Woodyard, of Christiansburg, two sisters; Mrs. Thelma Alexander; Milford, Del, and Mrs. Flora Briggs, Lakewood, CO, three grandsons, three granddaughters, four great grandsons, and two great granddaughters. Mr. Burlingame was also preceded in death by his longtime friend and confidant; Norma Jean Hawks, also surviving are his daughters; Marcia Hampton and fiancé; James Hoback, and Margaret Morgan, son Paul Morgan, one grandson, and two granddaughters, and one great grandson.
The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home Tuesday, February 19, 2008 from 5 – 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held, Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Gethsemane Baptist, 2004 Preston St, Radford, VA. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg.
