Finally to sum up, all of his furry friends. MEOW.
Fred grew up in Christiansburg, VA and after graduating from Christiansburg High School he held several local job positions. Shortly thereafter, he kick started his 25-year career with Bell System/The C & P Telephone Company, where he had the privilege to retire at the age of 53.
He was a kind, gentle, humble man who loved Jesus, taught his family to follow Christ, loved the USA & a staunch supporter of conservative morals/values. He always knew what to do. He was our go to for questions about EVERYTHING! He was our math wizard, tell you about the stock market, our artist, he knew history and government like a historian, how to mold and endure relationships and quoted scripture like a religious leader. He exemplified “a giving heart” always generous in sharing his enormous wealth of knowledge and willing to give especially more than usual of anything asked of him.
He loved B-Market hot dogs, a big ole’ juicy steak, popcorn in his popcorn air popper from the 80’s and ICE CREAM! Any flavor, brand or style but butter pecan was his go to. In his spare time, Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing with his grandson, spending time with his family, watching VT football & was a die-hard NASCAR Dale Earnhardt fan. Fred’s most sought after passion was serving the LORD with his time and service. Fred spent a vast majority of his life, 26 years, serving as a stalwart for the Christiansburg Gideon Camp. He was a Sunday School Teacher @ PUMC in Christiansburg, VA for countless years making significant impacts in the lives of many young local teenagers. He was currently a member of Auburn Baptist Church, Riner, VA. He kept and shared his love for the LORD, Jesus Christ, and was looking forward to his coming again. Fred no longer has to wait as he is now with him in heaven. Our loss & Heaven’s gain! Well done, good and faithful servant.
