Garland Henry Spencer, 95 of Christiansburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Ann Spencer; parents, Charles and Clara Spencer; sisters, Ruth Roop and Ruby Lawson Rice; granddaughter, Gemmia McClaugherty; and great-grandchildren, Levi Bond and Korbin David Kaluhiokalani-Spencer.
Garland is survived by his children, Charlotte Diane McClaugherty and husband James, Harold Wayne Spencer and wife Ruby, Michael David Spencer and wife Sheryl; grandchildren, Denise Spencer, Wayne Spencer, Sean McClaugherty, Michael A. Spencer and wife Suzanne, Jason Spencer and wife Leslie, Sabrina Spencer Scaggs and husband Chris, Amy Spencer and husband Jimi, Trista Spencer Bishop and husband Randy, Crystal McClaugherty Bond and husband Kevin, Benjamin Spencer and wife Makana, Matthew Spencer and wife Meredith; great-grandchildren, Landice McClaugherty, Emily Scaggs, Hayden Spencer, Mitchell Scaggs, Abigail Ammons, Ryan Spencer, Jada Bond, Kendra Scaggs, Josiah Ammons, Kyleigh Bishop, Logan Bond, Leilani Kaluhiokalani-Spencer, Ethan Scaggs, Owen Spencer, Kaya Spencer, April Bond, Anevay Kaluhiokalani-Spencer, Presleigh Bishop, and Dylan Spencer; great-great-grandchildren, Landon, Hunter, and Reagan Mannon. He will be missed by his sisters, Carlie Stump, Rhynie Jones, Nancy Linkous, Martha Sefick, Betty Clowers and husband James, and Linda Henderson and husband Turman; and brothers, Paul Spencer and wife Ernestine, Charles Spencer, Luther Spencer and wife Willa Mae, and John Spencer.
Garland was an Army veteran and had been a faithful member for 73 years of the Church of God of Prophecy, and retired after 36 years of pastoral ministry.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Cox and Rev. Schall officiating. Interment will follow in Den Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Funeral Service.
