Gary Wayne Ward

The world has lost a sweet, kind, courageous, soul; the guy with beautiful eyes and an infectious smile. Gary Wayne Ward, of Salem, VA, departed this world Monday May 15, 2017 at the young age of 34. Gary graduated from Salem High in 2001 and has been a fantastic cook for Mac and Bob's for the past 11 years. Gary is survived by his mother, Wendy Saunders; father, Charley Ward; his twin sister, Angela and husband Mark Arthur, nieces, Jodi and Tori Huffman; uncles, David and wife Darlene Lovern, Ronnie and wife Mary Lovern, Carl and wife Crystal Lovern, and Flint Ward; and aunts Darla Lovern and her life partner Val Nakdimen as well as aunt Betty Gregg. In addition numerous step-aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to name as well as best lifetime friends, Matt and wife Gina Hunt as well as a lifetime of special friends. He had an unsurpassed love of the great outdoors and the fabulous gift making others laugh. His final and most generous gift was that of organ donation.
The visitation will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017, from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will follow the visitation at Alleghany Spring Congregational Holiness Church Cemetery, Shawsville.
