George Junior Edwards, beloved father, 89, of Pilot, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 22, 2019.
“Junior” was known for his amazing tomatoes and loved sharing them with family, neighbors and friends. He grew up on a family farm and continued the tradition for many years. He loved working with his brother, Everette, providing construction and carpentry services and had an innate talent for building beautiful pieces of furniture. He served the Lord while attending Pilot Methodist Church for 55 years and singing in the choir. He enjoyed being a member of the Pilot Ruritan Club for many years and loved helping others with their canning at the Auburn High School Cannery. He retired from Montgomery County Public Schools as their Maintenance Supervisor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Cliffie Edwards and by his loving wife of 60 years, Bettie Loraine Agnew Edwards. Left to cherish his memory is his son, David Edwards of Christiansburg; daughter Tracie Bobletz & husband Darryl of Fancy Gap; sister Cora Delaphine Edwards Martin and many loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 24th at Horne Funeral Home in Christiansburg. Pastor and friend Neal Turner will be officiating a graveside service at St. Matthew’s Cemetery on Saturday, May 25th at 11:00 a.m.
