George Nelson Hamrick

George Nelson Hamrick, 85, of Christiansburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, August 7, 2017. He retired from RAAP with 35 years of service, and most recently retired from the Montgomery County School System with more than 20 years of service. George so enjoyed the children riding his bus #100 and his “bus crew family”.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Shirley; son, Gary; as well as two brothers, William and Alfred; and two sisters, Evelyn and Anita. George is survived by his daughters, Becky Gerald and son-in-law, Gary, Robin Roumillat; daughter-in-law, Donna Hamrick; six grandchildren, Marsha, Greg, Amy, Jessica, Tyler, and Ryan; seven great-grandchildren, Gia, Riley, Hayden, Natalie, Kinsley, Adalyn, and Gunner; and a sister, Virginia Fife.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 13, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Per George’s request, there will be no further services.
