Szczukowski, George Charles, age 53, of Christiansburg, born in Trenton NJ, died January 19th, 2007 at Montgomery Regional Hospital, after a year long battle with cancer. He fought a hard battle and he will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Violet Szczukowski. He is survived by his soul mate and wife, Helen, who cherished the 7 years she had with him; his children, Katie, Ricky, and his grandson Anthony (Peanut), who he raised from birth at home. He is also survived by two other sons Johnny of Salem and Joey of Christiansburg and a daughter Amy of Easton PA. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan Marascio, of Hamilton NJ and Blanche and his brother-in-law Roger Hannah of Hamilton NJ. He is also survived by his aunts, Berniece Wisniewski, Julia Nemeth, Helen Kiesluski. Helen Szczukowski and Connie Szczukowski all of New Jersey; his nieces JoAnn Colon, Charlene Barone, Angel Sullivan, Donna Lupinetti, Terry Epperly, Darlene Alvarez, Dawn Marie Shiano and Casandra Wereski; and nephews Greg Wereski and Richard Slacum all of NJ. He will also be missed by Melissa Hourigan and Alysia Bean of Christiansburg.
After he graduated in 1972 from Steinhart High School, George served with the US Navy Reserves and the US Navy. He was a great auto mechanic and his passion was woodworking. He also was a life member of the Handyman Club. He enjoyed building model cars, photography, crossword puzzles, playing the guitar and camping, and most important he loved spending time with his family.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 26 at the Horne Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Victory Restoration Center on Peppers Ferry Road, Christiansburg, on Monday, January 29 at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Ray Kingrea officiating.
