Georgia Alice Elliott, of Christiansburg, passed peacefully from this life, joining her family (parents Pearlie and Roy Elliott, brother Walton, and sister Janie) in their heavenly home, on Thursday evening, August 9, 2018.
Born on November 17, 1926 and a lifelong resident of Belmont and then Cambria, Georgia was a 1944 graduate of Christiansburg High School; she served on the CHS faculty for a year before beginning her 40 years of service to the Montgomery County Clerk of the Circuit Court’s office, retiring in 1986. She taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, served on a multitude of committees, and sang in the Cambria Baptist choir for decades. Georgia most recently made her home at 1140 W. Main St. where the admin and staff at English Meadows graciously supplied her every need. Compassionate wisdom, and tender care for the end of Georgia’s journey on this earth was provided by her EM caregivers, Lewis Gale’s palliative care team, and the staff of Carilion Hospice led by Nicole Thompson.
The Eddleton family treasures the decades of love and friendship shared with the Elliott family up on their hill: waiting on the school bus, sharing meals, celebrating birthdays, welcoming babies, weathering ice storms, or just talking and playing cards.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 13, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Cambria Baptist Church, with the funeral service to be held at 1 p.m. Graveside service will follow at Belmont Cemetery.
Memorial gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association in Georgia’s remembrance are welcomed.
