OLIVER, GEORGIA KAY HAUSCHILDT, age 48, of Christiansburg, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Montgomery Regional Hospital.

She was born in Tazewell, VA the daughter of the late George and Uva Taylor Young. She was a graduate of Virginia Tech and received her Master's from Radford University. She was a former member of the Tazewell Rescue Squad, a Life Member of the Virginia Tech Rescue Squad, and became the first female member of the Christiansburg Rescue Squad in 1983, serving as an active member until 2003, when she was granted Life Membership in the Christiansburg Squad.

Surviving are her husband, Kenneth Wayne Oliver, Jr.; son, Matthew Hauschildt; daughter, Taylor Hauschildt; all of Christiansburg, her second mom, Lilly Burton, Tazewell, VA; very special friends, Teresa Quesenberry, Regina Hutchins, and Eddie Trump; numerous other special friends and members of the rescue squad family.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday, August 23, at the Horne Funeral Service. A memorial service will be conducted 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, in the Horne Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Neal Turner. In lieu of flowers the family asked memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association, 4335 Cox Road, Glen Allen, VA 23060, American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106A, Roanoke, VA 24018 or the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Box 176, Christiansburg, VA 24073.
