Gertrude Martin Collins

Gertrude Martin Collins Born December 28, 1913 to the late Arthur and Susie Martin in Rodgers, VA.
After 101 years on this earth she went to be with the lord on June 23, 2015. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Raynard W. Collins, four brothers and one sister, two daughters Edna Thompson and Mary West and husband Bryron, two grandsons Donald Lee Bratton and Donald Wayne Bratton, one granddaughter Crystal Leigh Poff.
She is survived by three sons, I.W. Collins (Linita) Check, VA, Jerry Collins of the home and Harley Collins (Sarah) of Riner.
Three daughters, Ginny ‘Sis’ (Buddy) Poff of Christiansburg, Frances Shillingburg (Bob) Bedford, Elva Jones (Jimmy) of Riner, son-in-law Gratton Thompson (Cora) of Christiansburg.
Twenty-one grandchildren, thirty great grand children and ten great-great grand children.
Granny Collins has numerous extended friends and families. Special thanks to Dr. Hemphill and staff at Shawsville Clinic Dr. Ojomo and staff at Pulaski Cancer Center. Special thanks to Riner Rescue Squad. In Lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Riner Rescue Squad.
The family will receive friends Wednesday 24, 2015 from 7-9 pm at Horne Funeral Home. The service will be Thursday 25, 2015 at 11:00 am at Horne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Everett Shepherd, Rodney Collins and Rev. Neal Turnner, officiating. Internment will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
