Gilbert McGuyer

McGuyer, Gilbert Beacher, 79, of Christiansburg, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005. A son of the late John Robert and Nora Ella Spradlin McGuyer, Mr. McGuyer was born on April 21, 1925 in Rogers, Virginia. He was a veteran of World War II and a Life Member of the J.M. Wainwright Chapter 29 Disabled American Veterans.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rex Wayne McGuyer; four brothers and four sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Hixon McGuyer; a son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Ellen McGuyer; and a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Ronnie Allen, all of Christiansburg; grandchildren, Scott and Virginia Allen, Indian Valley; Blair and Jaime Allen, Christiansburg; and Julie McGuyer of Christiansburg. Also surviving Mr. McGuyer are five great-grandsons, Hunter, Jonathan and Garrett Allen, Indian Valley; Reid Allen of Christiansburg; and Damian McGuyer, Christiansburg. Surviving siblings are brothers and sister-in-law, George and Clarice McGuyer, Riner; and Clifford McGuyer, Christiansburg.
Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Jerry Shepherd on Monday, Jan. 24th at 11 a.m. at Horne Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, Jan. 23rd from 4-6 pm at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg.
