“GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME”
Glenn Arvel Wood, 60, of Riner went home to be with the Lord after a year and half battle with cancer.
He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church and loved participating with the kids at VBS. Glenn worked 42 years at Hubbell Lighting. He was a member of Riner Volunteer Fire Department for 36 years serving as Chaplain and Training Officer.
Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Alden H. Wood. He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Peggy Combs Wood; mother, Alzora Wood of Floyd; sons, SSG Darren Wood, US Army and wife, Emily in active duty military, Chris J. Evans and wife, Theresa, Glen Allen, VA, Jonathan C. Evans of Glen Allen, VA; grandchildren, Quinton, Leannan, Aedan, Alexandra, Matthew, Adrianne and Will; sister, Joyce Wood Gardner and husband, Don of Floyd; sister-in-law, Joy Krantz and husband, Frank of Bristol; brother-in-law, Jay Combs and wife, Mary of New Jersey and Rick Combs and wife, Sherrie of Bristol; loving caregivers, Annette and Nicole along with Blue Ridge Cancer Care and Duke University Cancer Center; several other family member including nieces, nephews, cousins, fire department family, work family, church family and neighbors.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Auburn Baptist Church with Rev. Neal Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Jacksonville Cemetery in Floyd.
