ACORD, HELEN VEST SAMES, age 70 of Christiansburg, VA was called from this earthly life by her Heavenly Father to heaven on Friday, July 1, 2005.
She was born on October 6, 1934, in Floyd County the daughter of the late Harless T. and Pearl Hall Vest. She was a fifty year resident of Christiansburg, where her life?s profession, that of a professional seamstress, was to provide quality work for her customers. She has been a member of the Bible Baptist Church for many years.
Helen was predeceased by her loving husband of forty seven years, Waymon J. Sames; daughter, (eight month old) Judy Ann Sames, daughter (sixteen year old) Barbara Jean Sames, son (fourteen year old) Jerry Waymon Sames and sister, Claudine McGuyer.
Helen is survived by her husband of three years, Kenneth R. Acord, formerly of Slab Fork, WV; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jo and Bob Nunley, Velma and Mack Gibson, Anne Crouch and Linda Bower; five stepsons and their wives, Jeff and Carol Acord, Ted and Dee Acord, Tim and Carol Acord, Clifton and Jennifer Acord and Glen and Jenny Acord; twelve step grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Ellen McGuyer, Shirley Walters, Glen Walters, Randy Gibson, Rita Orren, Vanessa Moore, Naomi Logan, Denise Linkous, Cathy Stoner, Darshall Mabry, Donna Varner, Eric Bennett, Anita Orren and numerous cousins in Floyd County.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 3rd at the Horne Funeral Home, Christiansburg. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 4th, at the Bible Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Dusty Etter with interment to follow in the Huffville Cemetery, Floyd County.
