NOWLIN, Helen Burton Duncan 87 of Christiansburg passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Ms. Nowlin was a member of Wabun Congregational Holiness Church. She was born June 22, 1923.
The daughter to the late George and Ethel Altizer Burton she was also preceded in death by her sons; Jimmy Duncan and Dwight Duncan, brothers; Esker Burton, Harless Burton and Harvey Burton and sisters; Effie Altizer and Frances Hendricks.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Doris and David Farley of Christiansburg, Brenda and Gary Shepherd of Riner, Rebekah Corso of Dublin, and Chris and Jessi Sutphin of Christiansburg, daughter-in-law; Misty Duncan. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, sister; Marlene DeLung of Salem. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home Wednesday, July 28, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at The Horne Funeral Home Chapel Thursday July 29, 2010 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Gary Shepherd and Rev. Jube Burk officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
