Ileda Chafin

Chafin, Ileda Sowers, 91, of Christiansburg, Va, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2009. Ileda was born on October 9, 1917. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Rudell Winston Chafin; son, Robert Winston Chafin; brother, D.W. Sowers; sister, Juanita Williams Mattson.
She is survived by her daughter, Gayle Chafin Hall and Bobby Handy, of Shawsville, Va; grandchildren, Robert Timothy “Timmy” Chafin, of South Carolina, Melissa Hall Good and spouse, Russell, of Annapolis, MD; great grandchildren, Ashley Chafin Bond and spouse, Ricky, of Christiansburg, Va, Griffin Hall Good, Cameron Russell Good; great, great grandchildren, Kelsey Paige Bond, Emily Nicole Bond; sister, Thelma Teel, of Christiansburg, Va; sisters-in-law, Ruby Chafin, of Radford, Va, Martha Sowers Freeman, of Radford, Va, Nelsie Kupersmith, of Tennessee, Carolyn Johnson and numerous special nieces and nephews.
Many special friends, Steve and Joyce Hall, of Riner, Va, Joyce Page, of South Carolina, Shelby Hamlett, of Roanoke, Va, Dug and Lynn Henderson, of Christiansburg, Va. The family would like to send special thanks out to the nursing staff at Heritage Hall. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 1p.m.- 3p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2009 with Rev. Michael Waller officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va . The Chafin family is being served by Horne Funeral Service.
