Imogene Thompson

August 27, 1946 — June 14, 2012

Imogene (Jean) Thompson, 65, of Christiansburg, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2012.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Alderman Hodge and James Hodge; and a brother, Jessie Hodge.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Thompson of Christiansburg; her children, Sherry Hanks Jarrell of Huntington, WV, Bridgette Hanks Glass and Daniel Hanks, both of Christiansburg; step-children, Denise Thompson Yopp and Leslie Thompson Hetherington & spouse Wayne, all of Christiansburg; siblings, Mary Hodge Dunbar & spouse Roger of Pulaski, James Hodge of Roanoke, Ann Hodge Hall & spouse Jerry of Dublin, Christine Hodge Taylor & spouse Sheldon of Pulaski, Sylvia Hodge Gregory of Christiansburg, Alice Hodge Holston, and Katherine Hodge Dudley & spouse Sayers, all of Frisco, TX; grandchildren, Brittan Young, Codi and Zach Glass, Lauren Sutphin and Brooklyn Sutphin, Chris Hetherington, Paige and Taylor Jarrell, Austin, Kaylee and Hannah Hanks, Jessica Yopp; great-grandchild, Xander Glass; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many special friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 17, 2012, from 5-8 pm at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 18th at 1 pm in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Rob Sowell officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Imogene’s name to St. Jude Tribute Program, P O Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or to the American Cancer Association, 2840 Electric Road, Suite 106-A, Roanoke, VA 24018.
