Irene Iris Simmons

Irene Iris Simmons, 87, passed peacefully at Lewis Gale Montgomery Hospital on May 6, 2018. She has been a long time resident of Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Irene was originally from Riner, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary & Tony Simmons; sisters, Doris Altizer & Diane Addison; brothers, Norman Simmons & Jimmy Simmons.
She is survived by her sister, Anna Saunders; sister-in-law, Betty Simmons; close niece, Phyllis Saunders; close nephew, Jay Altizer & Chris Saunders; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 9 from 1-2 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. with Chris Saunders officiating. Afterwards burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
