Jack McCanless Goodwin Sr., 70, of Shawsville, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elbert and Callie Goodwin; brother, Elbert Lynwood Goodwin; and sister, Carolyn Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Arabelle Hilton Goodwin; daughter, Angela Thornton (Dwayne); sons, Mickey and Lynwood Goodwin; sisters, Shirley Price (Russell), and Wyoma Rock (Cecil); brother, Bill Goodwin (Penny); grandson, David Thornton; granddaughter, Misty Goodwin; great-granddaughters, Makayla Thornton, Aubrey Goodwin, Makaylee Akers; sister-in-law, Helen Goodwin; several nieces and nephews; as well as his dog, Bowser.
Jack drove a truck for 45 years. He enjoyed playing pool, the guitar, riding motorcycles, but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Pool Associates and the Moose Lodge.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 22, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Kittinger officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
