CUMMINGS, JACKIE LYNN, age 49, of Christiansburg passed away Thursday, March 16, 2006 at her home.
A 1974 graduate of Clay High School, Clay, WV, she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Radford University in 1996, and a Associate in Arts and Science with a major in General Studies from New River Community College. She was a member of Draper Baptist Church where she served as choir director and a Sunday School teacher. She had been an employee of Virginia Tech and Dr. David McMillan as office manager, she was a member of the Adeline?s Singing Group she enjoyed doing needlepoint.
She is survived by her husband of twenty-seven years, John Cummings; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Jennifer Cummings and their son, Nathan Louis Cummings, Williamsburg, VA; daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Jake Blevins, Roanoke; her parents, Beauford and Ella Workman Trent, Dublin, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Janet and Larry Ross, Dublin, VA; special niece, Meagan Ross, Fairlawn, VA; several aunts, uncles and in-laws in West Virginia. The family would like to extend special thanks to Christie for all your help and loving care to Jackie. Also, thanks to all who touched her life and loved her for their support through this battle with ?Lou Gehrigs?
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider either the local ALS Foundation, the MDA association or the family. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at the Horne Funeral Home. Memorial services will be conducted 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the Horne Funeral Chapel with Rev.
