BOARD SR, JAMES EARL, “Jim”, 75, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died peacefully on December 28 in Charlottesville. He was born on October 7, 1942 in Christiansburg, Virginia. He was the son of the late James Ernest Board and Bettie Jane Smith Board.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Maria G. Board. He is survived by one son, James Earl Board Jr. of Charlottesville, Virginia and his wife Margien; two daughters, Lisa Anne Board and Sara Anne Board of Richmond, Virginia; grandchildren Alison and Doc Powell; several cousins and extended family.
Jim was a USMC veteran of Vietnam, serving as Sergeant until September 1967. He owned and operated his painting contractor service, James Board Painting, in Charlottesville for many years. Jim was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bluegrass music.
Military graveside services will be at 1p.m. on Saturday, April 19 at Wilson Cemetery in Check, VA. Arrangements will be handled by Horne Funeral Service in Christiansburg. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont.
