James Robert “Pyro” Leech, 42, of Elliston, passed away on Saturday May 6, 2017. He was employed by East Coast Metal Distributors. James served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his neighbors as a member of the Elliston Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years and at Hubert NC fire department prior to that.
He was preceded in death by his father, William “Wayne” Leech; and sister-in-law, Heather Leech. James is survived by his wife, Christie Taylor Leech; daughter, Sydney Morgan Rector; mother, Sara J. Leech; sisters, Sara “Jackie” Carneal, Sandra Jones (Ronnie); brother, William Wayne Leech, Jr.; nephews, Alijah Everson (Ruriko), Christopher Jones (Crystal), Matthew Jones, Joey Leech (Hillary), Josh Leech; niece, Maddie Carneal; as well as several great-nephews and great-nieces.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at 1 p.m. in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Mike Johnston and Rev. Neal Turner officiating. A Graveside Service with military honors will follow in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Dublin.
