James Miller

Miller, James A., 83 of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 10, 2006 from his home surrounded by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; Harrison and Verdie Miller, and one sister; Mary Linkous.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years; Mary Miller, two daughters and sons-in-law; Pat and Glen Stallard of Christiansburg, VA and Sandy and Tony Lovern of Elliston, VA, one son and daughter-in-law; Timmy and Donna Miller of Dublin, VA. Six grandchildren; Karen and Warren Richardson; Tony and Dana Lovern, Matt and Julie Stallard, Danny and Ember Lovern, Mac Miller, Miranda Miller, and 14 great grandchildren. Two brothers; Wilburn and Shirley Miller of Christiansburg, VA, Willis and Joy Miller of Fenwick, WV. Two sisters; Nina and Rick VanGorden of Christiansburg, VA, Nancy and Larry Puckett of Christiansburg, VA. Sisters-in-law; Cheryl and Charles W. Austin of Radford, VA, Mildred and Bobby Jarrett of Christiansburg. Brothers-in-law; Robert Osborne of Christiansburg, VA, and Bill Charles of Grundy, VA, and many special nieces and nephews.

James was a World War II Veteran and retired from Radford Army Ammunition Plant in 1975. He also worked for Virginia Tech , Montgomery County Schools, and was a volunteer for R.S.V.P. James was a faithful member of Lighthouse Family Ministries for 46 years. James was devoted to his family, enjoyed life, and loved fishing. His dedication to God was a shining example to everyone around him.

Friends may call anytime after 12 Noon on Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at The Horne Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 ? 8 p.m. Wednesday evening. The funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2006 from Lighthouse Family Ministries, Union Valley, with Pastor Buford Linkous and Rev. Steve Board officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery with Full Military Rites by VFW Post 1184. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Carilion New River Valley Hospice for the care given.
