James Edwin Sherman, “Ed”, of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday morning, May 31, 2017. Ed was born on October 27, 1929 in Person County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ann Smith Sherman; and his grandson, Jack Sherman.
Ed is survived by his three sons and their families: Randy and Mary Sherman, Alan and Shannon Sherman, and Michael Sherman; grandsons, Brooks and Cord; and granddaughters, Allison and Katherine. Also surviving are Ed’s brother, Donald Sherman and wife Delories; and sister, Carolyn Nutt and husband Billy.
Ed was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He and his wife, Ann, owned and operated Sherman’s and Smithman’s in downtown Christiansburg for 47 years.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 3, 2017, in the sanctuary of St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Funeral Service to immediately follow at noon. Rev. Paul Song will officiate the Service and interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery.
